Those of you who can remember, Sri Lanka was struck by tsunami in December 2004. I was actually there in early December. Was supposed to travel there during Christmas period but changed schedule for some reason. I really wonder what would happen if I'm there during that period...
Anyway, these set of 3 pictures were taken during that trip. The first picture is at the Kandalama Lake. Taken in the morning at about 9.30am. The place was serene and 'dead'.
The second and third picture were taken along the road to Galle. Those 'sticks' you see on the second picture are stilts which the fishermen used when fishing for prawns. It was evening (about 5pm).
(Hmmm... Just realized that I kinda like to take dull, sad, greyish pictures)

More Flower Pictures
Taken these on a recent trip to the botanical gardens. The weather wasn't that great and it rained for a while when I was there. I had to share shelter at the information board in the middle of nowhere with a couple of tourists and 2 schoolboys until the rain stopped. Anyway, I thought the pictures look OK to me. Please comment on them lah!
Funny Tile
Found this tile on the old NIE campus at Bukit Timah. It's on the wall along with a lot of other tiles which ex-students and teachers made as a contribution to NIE at that time. When I saw this, I can't help smiling to myself...after a tough 1 year in NIE, how true can this get???
(If you guys and gals are interested, this wall is just next to the new food court in the old campus. Entrance near to Botanical Orchid Garden.)

Short trip up north
Went for a 1 day break up north. Drove thru Woodland Causeway with no traffic on Thursday. Stayed in the Sofitel Resort. Went swimming, relaxing by the pool and walking about the resort. It's nice there and I would like to visit again. This shot was taken at 7.30am from the balcony which looks out to the golf course green. The hotel was ok. Big room and comfortable bed. Pity I can't stay longer as I need to finish up my project which is due next Friday...sigh...
While driving back to Singapore, stopover at the Senai town to take some pictures and see if there's anything to buy. Didn't buy anything but took some pictures of the signboards and of the town. Came back via Tuas Checkpoint. Was worried that there will be a jam at Woodlands due to the holidays. Thought of going over to Yeo Bros for some seafood but decided to turn around when the roads to the place we were heading were starting to flood. Ended up eating KFC and of course topping up the car with cheap fuel before heading to the causeway!!!

China Trip - ShaoXing
First picture - Saw this boy (about 4 years old) cutting sugar cane in the back lane. He shaves off the sugar cane like a pro! Everyone was fascinated and surprized that a boy his age knows how to do it.
Second picture - As it was winter, the locals are drying their foodstuff out in the open. There were pieces of pork meat, dried fish, and vegetables hanging on poles or on low hanging tree branches everywhere. You can smell them from a distance away!
Third picture - The mini 'sampan' boats that locals used to transport people and goods along the canals. Most of these boats are still in use.
Fourth picture - Some attraction signboards waiting to be put up. Check out the translations on them!!! :-)

China Trip - Xitang
This is XiTang. About 1 hour's drive from Shanghai. Beautiful town... One of those places where everyone lives and works along the canals. We had dinner at the restaurant pictured here on the right. They had pictures of Tom Cruise visiting the restaurant when filming ( I think it's MI3).
The 3rd picture is one of my favourites. I had wanted to send this for comptetition and maybe have it enlarged and framed.
4th picture...an old man selling 'soy beancurd'. He sells both the sweet and salty version.

China Trip - Shanghai
Some pictures taken during my trip to China last year. These were taken in Shanghai.
There were a lot of shops selling local handicraft and artwork on the street "Cheng Hwang Temple". This picture shows the vases, snuff bottles and small globes were painted from within.
The second picture shows the Chinese art of paper cutting.
These were taken in Pudong showing the famous night scenes of Shanghai.
